Nose
Oak infused spice is my first thought, pear, grapefruit, hints of orange marmalade on toasted brown bread. After a few minutes sawdust, ginger and a little pepper.
Mouth/Palate
Spicy and slightly creamy with a blast of peat and stewed plums, figs and dates. The oak is definitely there and makes this dry but there is also a very nice slightly orangey citrus tang which is welcome. The spice seems to explode on the palate but now it is peat driven and for 43% quite potent, the very refined sugar/icing sweetness really makes this and takes the edge of the oak but it is still there.
Finish
Finish, good medium length, remaining peppery with a lingering sweet peat angle, but the oak is shouting a bit now and knocks this a point or two.
