Nose
I smell spud guns! This is initially rather light, [mineral-water light] but i sense theres subtle complexity lurking. Alongside spud guns [so thats steel and starch], its opening out to reveal a fragrant, doughy, malt sweetness, with the steel remaining - which is just fine on this occasion. With time its the oily maltiness that shines more brightly along with a slightly toasted, dank cardboard note. After an hour the rather light and subtle nose that begun has blossomed into a modest but confident phenol strength performer.
Mouth/Palate
Reveals itself in one homogenous serving - with more oily, aniseed fresh than anything. Its a rather retentive offering and not particularly strong on social skills - a bit prickly and developing on bitter dank oak notes.
Finish
Slightly waxy, bitter woody vanillas with a passing dry fungal maltiness. Dank forest floor and dry heathery grasses linger.
